Building Construction/Home Building

COURSE DESCRIPTION:
This capstone course is designed to provide students with practical hands-on experience in new home construction. Classes are held at a building site within the Salt Lake City School District. Course content includes: basic wall construction, insulation, dry wall installation, painting, siding applications, concrete laying, floor applications and development of workplace problem solving techniques. Students ay register for two or more hours of participation.

JOB SHADOWING
Available in plumbing, heating, air and electrical though the construction trade is on-site.
INTERNSHIPS
Due to state regulations, available only to students 18 years of age or older.
APPRENTICESHIPS
Are available to students 18 years or older through the Association of General Contractors for carpentry, heavy equipment operator, cement mason, electrician and truck driver.
